英 kanji compounds

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%E8%8B%B1#Compounds

The English wiktionary has some excellent pages for kanji compounds.

The page above is for

英気 (えいき, eiki)
英語 (えいご, eigo)
英国 (えいこく, eikoku)
英断 (えいだん, eidan)
英和 (えいわ, eiwa)
英知 (えいち, eichi)
英智 (えいち, Eichi)
英雄 (えいゆう, eiyū)
英霊 (えいれい, eirei)
石英 (せきえい, sekiei)  quartz

I might add

英会話 (えいかいわ, eikaiwa)
English conversation ( and so, in context, such a school or course)

The page denshi jisho has several expressions ending in 英

Currently Google translate offers only 'British' in English for 英 and so that is all that can be given for other languages ( but even denshi jisho has anglais for French, but not britannique !)

Possibilities :

咲く  bloom, infloresence
輝かしい brilliant  but see 賢い and several cognate expressions

compare: 開花

Another article says was added later as a "redundant semantic determinative."
